I don’t know what’s wrong with our printer. It’s more involved than I have patience for this late on a Tuesday evening when my youngest needs to print some pictures for her science homework. Actually, I don’t have patience for much of anything right now except going to bed.
Luckily for me, Sarah doesn’t mind when I call her just as she’s getting home from a shoot and beg her to print up a couple things for me. Luckily for me, she’s used to my shenanigans. Lucky for me, she hasn’t tossed me to the curb after dealing with my shenanigans for 30 years.
But you know what? The best part about picking up the pictures is that for 5 minutes, I actually chatted with Sarah face to face. Not email. Not text message. An actual human conversation.
As much time as I spend in the “on line” world or working at a desk all day, it’s good to be reminded what actual conversations look like.
It was nice to have a few minutes to talk about her shoot. She gave me a bite of the dinner she made using a new recipe, and one we’ll likely feature here because YUM. We talked about our kids and some of the things coming up. We talked about an interesting movie they were watching. I told her about how effing tired I am. We commiserated over our lack of workouts lately. (OMG where did those go?!??)
Life is insane. I haven’t had a good night sleep in months and to-do lists rule the world. For just a few minutes, it was nice to laugh and talk and remember why getting together with our friends, even while printing something, makes all the difference in a really crazy day. More getting together and human conversations, please.
