I come from a big family. When we’re all in the same place, we are a crazy force of familial nature. We are loud. We speak in movie quotes. We have jokes that only WE get. But we are loving and caring and if you’re in? YOU’RE IN. Whether you want to be or not. We are hard workers…we work well together. Mostly. When our sarcasm doesn’t get in the way. (It usually doesn’t.)
Back in June, Sarah and I found ourselves hanging out with a few of our favorite people surrounded by the loveliest Bogle Vineyards view and it felt like we had come over for a Bogle Family dinner. We were warmly welcomed with delicious food and amazing wine while getting to know all things Bogle just a little bit better.
I find wine science to be fascinating. I even know that it’s not called wine science but I’m still going to call it wine science whenever I can. We had the coolest experience being nerdy about wine while having the chance to understand the process of wine blending. And then WE got to blend our little hearts out. With all kinds of beakers and…other important wine science measurement tools.
Sarah and I went rogue fairly early on and worked toward a blend that WE loved…even as everyone else tried to recreate the Bogle red blend. We were dang good at it, too. I’m sure Bogle will be asking for our blending help at any time.
Believe it or not, wine-science-class led us to bottling (and corking) our very own blends to take home with us. (We were GIDDY. I can’t even pretend that we weren’t.)
Getting to know the Bogle Team was a wonderful treat. We had a lovely and delicious outdoor dinner as we chatted even more about the wines and history of Bogle. It was a fabulous treat and I can’t wait to find a spare moment and head back to Bogle for a lovely visit.
There are not enough words to thank Bogle enough for such an amazing evening. We were so grateful to their hospitality and treating us like family. (We’re related now. You can’t get rid of us.)
Can’t wait for the next wine-science-class.
