I think there is a part of me that’s nervous about starting this new year. I’m sure it has everything to do with being a professional worrier like I am. It’s what I do! I’m so good at worrying! 2013 was pretty gosh-darn awesome, but I have even bigger goals and plans for 2014. Big plans and goals mean I worry and think I can’t make it happen?
I would never let my daughters entertain this type of thinking. I would remind them that they are amazing. I would encourage them to kick ass and take names. They have the power to make their goals dreams come true and I would tell them they should never settle for less. Girl Power? Yeah. They have it.
We all do.
As women, sometimes we sell ourselves short. We put others’ needs before our own. We sacrifice much for our children, our family and our friends. So when we have big plans, we often let self-doubt run the show instead of taking our own advice to kick ass and take names.
You know, Girl Power.
One of our goals here at Cap City Moms is to create an amazing community of women that empowers and encourages all of us to reach our goals. We also want to have fun and, maybe, learn something new. We also want to build a place where our minds are opened to the unique and beautiful moms that make this community so special. We are all different. But we love big and we care for one another. We are women.
“I love my husband. But there is nothing like a conversation with another woman that understands you. We have the same abilities and insecurities and we all need each other.” ~ Beyonce
(Yes, I just quoted Beyonce.)
So this year, this next 365 days and beyond, my wish for all of us is that we truly live. That we learn and we grow and that we empower those around us. That we don’t let our doubts win. We all have big plans and goals and dreams…and it is my wish that we make those happen in big ways.
Thank you all for being a part of this amazing group of women. We have big plans for this year as we officially launch Cap City Moms. There are more community events and meet-ups in the works. Community involvement and giving back. Stories of motherhood and celebrating even the most REAL moments that being a mom (and a woman) allows us to experience. It is going to be a wonderful and amazing adventure.
Happy New Year!! The best is yet to come.
Thank you, OpEleanor, for some of our inspiration and pictures.
