Sactoberfest (and a chance for you to win tickets!) **UPDATED WITH WINNER!**

UPDATED: KATCHET – THE LIPSTICK GIRAFFE IS THE WINNER!!

I’m a pretty big fan of all the awesome Sacramento has to offer. So I get pretty excited when we get to celebrate the happenings and goings on in and around my (our) hometown. I get even more excited when we get to meet the folks behind the magic of these events and they are even cooler than expected. One look and you KNOW this is a fun group of peeps.

For the second year in a row, Sactoberfest is making its triumphant return giving a fabulous Sacramento spin to the time honored tradition of Oktoberfest. From Munich, Germany to the Tower Bridge, the celebrations will be incredible. Lucky for us, this year will bring even more authentic fare and tradition as Sactoberfest grows. Live music and dancing, delicious German treats, 20,000 square foot Biergarten (!), contests and games! New this year, a full carnival will add a family friendly atmosphere all weekend, with the Sunday festivities especially family friendly.

We had the opportunity to preview some of the epic traditions, delicious food and the fun games and celebrations that will make appearances during Sactoberfest. The ever-wonderful folks at Ten22 were our fantastic hosts for the evening.

Chef Jay wowed us all with some of the most amazing tasty, German treats that were thoughtfully paired with several different beer (er, I mean bier) options.

STEIN. HOLDING.

Those steins are heavy, you guys. UNEXPECTED. And maybe a tiny bit concerning. For some. (Well, me.)

Who let me do this?

Who let me do this?

They, maybe, even convinced me to play a little beer pong. As you would expect, I was completely terrible. Like, REALLY bad. (Let’s just say it’s a good thing I didn’t have to take a drink every time I missed. YIKES.)

Um...yeah, beer pong

It comes as no surprise that we had the best time. We could go on and on about the excellent tastings but we also had an absolute blast with some fabulous people. The fabulous people who have a spectacular vision for Sactoberfest and the amazing event it already is and will be.

Oh my gawwwwd. Those pictures! Looks like an amazing time was had and I know Chef Jay and Chef Dennis treated you all right! My favorite Oktoberfest thing aside from the beer are the pretzels with beer cheese. Ok, and the brats too. The one time of year where I really treat myself and don’t feel bad about it. :)

Ah, my favorite beer is hefeweizen… Which is significantly more complicated since discovering that I’m allergic to wheat! So sad!

Your food and beer pics made me drool! You’re so lucky that you got to “preview” all of the Sactoberfest festivities! My favorite bier is an icy cold Heffeweizen with a big squeeze of lemon in it :)
